It was picture day at Dryden School! The children looked adorable for their 2nd grade photos! I snapped a few pictures "behind the scenes." :)
Our landform murals turned out great! I was especially impressed to watch as the children recorded their learning into their Seesaw learning journals. The children practiced snapping a photo of their work, and then recorded their voices as they narrated details about each of the 12 landforms/bodies of water that they added to their drawings. Feel free to log on to comment on your child's work through Seesaw, as well! They would be so excited to receive your feedback!
Avery was our first star student of the year! We welcomed Mrs. Jalowiecki and Kelsey to our classroom to learn more about Avery and to watch her fascinating experiment. We also loved singing along to the "Pete the Cat" story Avery selected to share with her classmates!
During reader's workshop, we continue to practice discussion techniques. In these photos, you can see the "Fishbowl" strategy. The first two children shared their feelings about a character or moment in the story, and decided if they agreed or disagreed. Then, a third person entered the conversation!
We love practicing our addition math facts using Xtramath! Remember to log in to use this free resource on your laptop computers at home! :)
The children also enjoyed working together to compare 3 digit numbers in small groups. They took turns rolling dice to create numbers, and then decided which number was largest!
This is one hard-working group of 2nd graders! :)
