What a week in 2-2!

It is unbelieveable how much the children accomplish in a week at school. Here are some highlights!
  • We worked hard as we brought our citizenship unit to a close.
  • We also spent some time reviewing for our fiction unit reading test!
  • The children enjoyed making words and strengthening their spelling skills.
  • We learned about examples of figurative language including personification, similes, and idioms which add interest and clarity to the texts we are reading. The children scanned the books they were reading looking for authentic examples. They especially "got a kick out of" creating their own similes!
  • We delved deeper into the use of bar models to help us solve both addition and subtraction problems in math
  • We wrote our own math story problems
  • We brainstormed, planned, and prepared to begin building for the cardboard challenge
  • We learned about the history of the holiday of Hanukkah, and shared a few stories
  • We learned about the job of the US President, the Constitution, and the branches of government
See the pictures below!
