The children worked to add 3 digit numbers without regrouping. We started by combining base 10 blocks in the ones place, and then moved on to the tens and hundreds place. We noticed that these sums were 9 or less, and did not require regrouping.
Now that this is clear, we are ready to begin regrouping!
Our class enjoyed building words that begin with consonant clusters. They were on the lookout for words that began with sc, sm, sl, sp, sn, and sk!
Look at all of the words we thought of!
In writing, the children are working to develop their own fairy tales. We have learned about interesting elements that fairy tales typically have, including good and evil, magic, and a happy ending just to name a few!
First, we thought about which fairy tale we would like to change to make our own. Then we considered which characters would be in our story, and where it should take place. The children were encouraged to use as much detail and description as possible! Coming up next is the problem and solution of our stories. It is so exciting to watch these stories unfold.
Cara was our star student this week! We welcomed her mom and dad into our classroom to share an experiment with our class about gravity. The kids were challenged to think about how to balance the ruler over the spine of the book using pennies.
We loved listening to clever poems from "Where the Sidewalk Ends," too!
Another terrific week at school! Thanks for stopping by our blog for an update!
