A Quick Update

After another short week last week, we are so happy to be back on track this week! We have a little bit of catching up to do after our 2 additional snow days that popped up! :)

Below are a few samples of our finished persuasive writing pieces- you can find these in the hallway hanging outside our classroom! The children did a wonderful job CLEARLY stating which animal they believe they should have for a pet, and including specific reasons WHY. You will notice strong persuasive words/phrases such as "I believe, surely, clearly, obviously, consider, think about..." Their work was so much fun to read! We almost ended up with 15 new class pets... almost... :)

It was Amina's week to be our shining star! She demonstrated a really neat experiment for the class, showing them how you can use water to magnify! Having Ava watch VERY CAREFULLY, she placed a quarter at the bottom of a bowl of water. When she filled the bowl with water, Ava and her classmates were able to see a much larger reflection of the exact same quarter! Cool!

Amina read the class a story about a very grumpy cat. Thanks to a very persistent little kitten who was determined to make a friend, the grumpy cat wasn't lonely anymore! We loved this story- especially the pictures!
I love this picture of Amina and her mom. We were so happy to have Mrs. Omanic visit our class on Friday afternoon! It was so much fun to see how excited Amina was to have her mom with us at school! Amina is a student with an enormous heart, such a hard worker, and a great friend to all of the children. We are lucky to know her!
