End of Year Celebration!
To celebrate the end of the school year, as well as Dryden's 60th birthday, the whole school participated in a "Lip Dub!" We sang and danced along to The Dryden School song (written by our very own Mr. Deptula), as well as "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida. What a SUPER fun experience it was!

Our 2nd Graders had a FIELD DAY!
Take a look at our photos from Field Day! It looks like everyone had fun, despite the cloudy weather... Thank you to Mr. Denney and Mr. Walsh for leading our groups! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who led the games for us, too! (And a special thank you to Mrs. Matters, our photographer! :)

Field Trip to 3rd Grade!
The last few days of our school year are just flying by! We have been reviewing things we've learned, finishing up units, and taking our last few assessments of the year! Our thinking has begun to shift to 3rd grade!
In order to build a bridge between 2nd and 3rd grade, our class took a FIELD TRIP to Miss Brignola's 3rd grade class yesterday!
Before our trip: The students in our class each thought up 10 questions they would like to know the answers to about 3rd grade. They had to be THICK questions (short answer) not THIN questions (yes or no). The questions they came up with were amazing! Some of the questions I saw included:
_________________________
1) How is 2nd grade like 3rd grade?
2) How is 2nd grade different from 3rd grade?
3) What is a day like in 3rd grade?
4) What are some things you learned this year?
5) Tell me about your favorite field trip this year!
6) What is homework like in 3rd grade?
7) What happens if you get in trouble? Are there reminder cards?
8) Do you do the Daily 5? How do reading groups work?
9) What was your favorite part about being a 3rd grader?
10) What was the easiest/hardest part about being a 3rd grader?

You can tell that the questions the children came up with led to some really great discussions!
We were ready! The children (clipboards and pencils in hand) and I popped into Mrs. Brignola's classroom yesterday morning, and they each buddied up with a 3rd grader. The 3rd graders were ready for us! They already had a list of things that they wanted to show us! The 3rd graders showed the 2nd graders the books and folders inside their desks, they explained the agenda on the board, and they took the 2nd graders on a mini-tour of the classroom showing them their coat hooks, reading center, mailboxes, library, etc. The 3rd graders told the 2nd graders about their homework, units they studied, even a little bit about the ISAT test! I couldn't think of better people to prepare my students for the next year. Thank you 3rd graders, you did a phenomenal job! My students were so excited to see a glimpse into their future as 3rd graders!
